It was a pathetic lie, but it was all she had.
Julian's reply came quick, flat. "Got it."
But before he could hang up, Grace added, "Julian, could you transfer me four million? I saw a jewelry set that would look perfect on Luna. I want to buy it for her."
The nerve of this woman. Even after being caught and humiliated, she was still scheming, still trying to squeeze more out of her son. But perhaps Julian had finally started to see through her masks. Perhaps this time, the stars would not return her wishes.
