# Chapter 5: The Return of the Heiress
The moment Floyd Stanton approached, his daughter collapsed into his arms like a broken bird, her body wracked with uncontrollable sobs that tore at his heart.
Floyd held her tight, his eyes burning with a mixture of heartbreak and barely contained fury. His little girl—the one he had coddled and protected since she was born—had never known such humiliation. And yet, she had debased herself before Eric Ferguson, the ungrateful bastard who never once appreciated the treasure he had in his grasp.
If not for the agreement they had made three years ago, Floyd would have already crushed the Ferguson family into dust. He would have beaten that worthless man to death with his own hands to avenge his daughter's tears!
"Nikki," he whispered, his voice rough with emotion as he stroked her hair, "do you remember our agreement? Three years I gave you. Three years for that bastard to fall in love with you. He failed. Now you must keep your word. Come back home. Take your rightful place in the company."
Nicole's shoulders shook as she cried, tears streaming down her face. After a long moment, she managed to speak through her sobs.
"Don't worry, Dad... I... won't be... that stupid again..."
The words came out broken, choked with pain, but they carried a new resolve.
For three years, Nicole had abandoned everything—her family, her friends, her very identity—all to chase what she believed was true love. She had given up her elite status, her luxury lifestyle, everything she had ever known, only to fly into a flame that had now consumed her entirely.
That man—Eric Ferguson—was finally being torn from her heart, piece by agonizing piece. But the scars he left behind would take much longer to heal.
Floyd's eyes softened with pride and relief. "Good girl. I'll have your big brother accompany you. Get familiar with the company first, and then we'll pick a good day to host a welcome banquet. It's time the world knows who you really are."
His precious baby daughter was finally coming home to start her career!

Though the news of Nicole's return hadn't been officially announced, her best friend Yvette Quimbey couldn't wait another second. She came running to Nicole's doorstep like a storm.
The moment Yvette saw Nicole, she wrapped her in a bear hug so tight it stole Nicole's breath.
"Baby! I've missed you so much!" Yvette's voice trembled with emotion. "And congrats on your divorce!"
Nicole's eyes welled up with tears again. When she had first told her friends that she would conceal her identity to marry into the Ferguson family, Yvette had been the loudest voice against it. But Nicole had been stubborn, blinded by love, and had slowly lost contact with everyone who cared about her.
Now, hearing her best friend's voice after years of silence, Nicole felt a crack in the walls she had built around her heart.
The two women talked for hours, catching up on everything they had missed. Finally, Yvette pestered Nicole until she reluctantly pulled out her divorce certificate. Yvette examined it like a prized trophy, then let out a deep sigh of relief.
"Eric Ferguson, that stupid, blind son of a bitch!" Yvette's eyes blazed with protective fury. "He's going to regret this if it's the last thing he does!"
Nicole lowered her eyes, her voice quiet but firm. "Even if he does regret it, it doesn't matter to me anymore. He's a stranger now."
"That's the spirit, baby!" Yvette's face lit up with a wicked grin. "You just need to wave your hand, and your admirers will be lining up from your doorstep all the way to the outskirts of West City! That bastard can't even get in line!"
Suddenly, Nicole remembered she had left some important documents at Eric's house. She needed to retrieve them. Yvette immediately volunteered to accompany her, and after a moment's hesitation, Nicole agreed.
What Nicole didn't expect was to find her mother-in-law, Quinn, waiting for her the moment she stepped through the door.
Quinn had always treated Eric and Nicole's home as if it were her own, coming and going without notice, walking around with an air of entitlement. But today, her presence felt more invasive than ever.
The moment Quinn saw Nicole return with a stranger, her face twisted with displeasure. She lifted her chin, looking down at Nicole and Yvette with undisguised contempt.
"Nicole, didn't I tell you we have confidential documents in this house? You can't just bring random people here. Do you have a goldfish memory?"
Yvette's jaw dropped. She was a pampered princess herself, never spoken to with such disrespect. "Who are you calling random? Don't you think you're a little too old to be calling people names?"
Quinn's eyes narrowed as she gave Yvette a cold once-over. "Don't think you can pretend to be elite just by wearing that fake outfit. I've seen plenty of low-class people like you, dreaming of marrying into a rich family."
Yvette's face turned red with anger, but before she could respond, Nicole stepped forward, her voice cold and sharp—a tone Quinn had never heard from her before.
"She's my friend. Please show some respect."
Quinn's eyes widened in shock. For three years, Nicole had groveled before her, never daring to talk back. And now this low-born woman, this nobody with no background, had the audacity to reprimand her in front of an outsider?
"Respect?" Quinn's voice rose to a shrill yell. "Do people of your background even deserve respect? You should be grateful that our family accepted you as a daughter-in-law! You've been living well in our house for three years. Have you forgotten which mudhole you crawled out of? This girl you brought home is probably just like you! You both smell of poverty! Get the hell out of my house and don't stain my floors!"
The words hung in the air like poison.
But this time, Nicole didn't hang her head. She didn't apologize. She didn't shrink.
She simply stood there, her eyes cold as ice, her heart finally free.
